Bobs Rule
As women pass through life they often meet other women they believe they might stay in touch with for a long time. Women that connect and know they will be there for each other in the future, through 'thick or thin.' The Bobs are a group of women who either went to school with each other or worked in a professional workplace together, have been to slumbob parties together, have attended bobathons together, and who have known each other at least 21 years. Since Bera, our singing doctor, is an original Bob from the mid-80's, on this site she sings praises to all the Bobs and gives each recognition for her contribution to our bobhood. Not just anyone can be a Bob -- it took a lot of work for each member to become a Bob -- rites of passage were completed before one could leave the probationary stage of being a Bob. Auditions had to be passed. Each Bob in this group is a woman with whom to be reckoned; one who won't take 'no' for an answer in this life; each a renegade in her own right. Life takes us all on journeys, and this Bob journey has not been an uneventful one, to say the least. Marriages have been entered, babies and grandbabies have been born, husbands have passed away, major moves have been contemplated and completed by several of the Bobs, we've dealt with grave illnesses and/or sudden losses*, deaths of parents, divorces have been finalized, a new marriage, and life goes on. That's right - that's life. And this is the life of our Bobs............... caught in the act of simply being Bobs.

*Since the above pictures were posted, on May 3, 2006 we lost our first "AngelBob" when KimmyBob lost her battle with cancer. Kimmy, we'll all miss your beauty, your unaffectedness, your honesty, and your wonderful sense of humor. No one could have been more fun to pull a prank on, no one more gullible, no one more precious. While we think of you with sadness because we miss you, we also have to smile, because you always brought a smile to everyone's face, and your memory still does. We love you. Rest with the angels now. January 6, 2008 was another tragic loss for the Bobs when one of our original Bobs, JoanieBob, was killed in a car crash. She twinkled when she smiled; she sparkled when she laughed. She brightened every room she entered with her infectious spirit. A delicate treasure to handle with care so she'd always be there. And she was. She was everywhere. She drank up life like there was no tomorrow. And today was her last earthly tomorrow when she went to be, once again, with God. The void she has left behind is so tremendous and the pain so great. We will miss you terribly, Joanie. Say 'hi' to Kimmy for us all. We'll see you again one day. |
